this thread is probbalky going to be 98% smart arse comments with the odd 'oh so clever' turn of phrase.
And from the west, expect light showers and something along the lines of "in you studio, ownin' your quotz'
BUt trying to be hlpefull, my guit feel says it could range depending on your rates, anything from 7-20+ k

The reason I ask is that I'm not a web designer. I am planning to propose that together with a coding buddy of mine we redesign the company I work for's corporate site.
At the moment to update it you have to edit all the flash files and no one here is a web designer so it never gets done. I figured a CMS is a good solution.I was thinking a few K (in £s), since it would save a lot of wasted time. But I'm not doing it as part of my standard day job

The biggest chunk of work will be the CMS. Then what interface you have that draws from it.
You mentioned flash, so the work involved in getting a flash site to work well wiht a CMS could range from 'piece o piss' to 'fucking nightmare' depending on what is done.
I would get the coding buddy to look at coming back to you with times on the CMS and the front end build, then you work out how long it will take for the actual interface design work.
After that, get the times together, add abother 40-50 for things overlooked and the sheer cost of stiching everything together and voilia, that should be pretty close.

I am really dissapointed in the response that this thread is getting.
Usually all the cunts come out of the woodwork for these sorts topics. Dare anyone ask about how to do a drop shadow in photoshop.

cheers bottlerocket, a sensible answer for one in this place!
The site is currently in flash but we would propose an nice HTML site I think, since there is no reason for it to be in flash, just a relic from the late 90s I think. Horribile intro animation etc, it even has sound :os

yeah so how do you do one of them there droop shadows in photopaint then?

YOU'RE A TOWEL!

about this much
maybe longer actually ...
that seems about right, especially for a mid sized company

just make an estimate with your buddy on how many hours it takes to build and design and conceptualize etc..
multiply it with your hourly rates, take a little bit extra to secure fuckups and you are set.
can't honestly say this by the info of a few sentences you posted.

don't forget to add in training to teach them how to use the CMS most people forget about that.
I would guess your using a Free CMS and skinning it. No need to create one from scratch. But i would guess ~ 10-20k total

yeah, estimating the "amount of time it will take" should get you somewhere between 25% and 1000% of the actual number
- Crouwel0
yeah what joyride said.
that shit can be tedious.
"can i drag my word doc over it to get it in there?"
*sigh
shit like that..
