Oh, hello. I am planning to buy a complete studio set-up for midsize product shots. I will mainly be shooting clothing on-form.
Looking for recommendations on equipment (camera, lighting, power source, etc.). What do you use?

my ex-business partner used a canon 20D with lights from:
got a 'big' one and a 'smaller' one. purchased one of the portable generators too for the lights.

go cannon for the camera. which one? whatever you can afford.
for lighting i recomend dynalight. they are well worth it. i also recomend that you buy\get a very good warrenty\services package. so when your lights die - and they will - you will somewhere to go for help.
ALL strobes will eventually need servicing. And if you decide to buy from some noname place over the net you will be left with a service bill double what what you would have paid extra from buying local.

and you will be needing one of this:

flash meter for sure.
get self contained heads.. heard ok things about the alien bees, but they arent very pro. i would go for elinchrome, photogenic or if you must opus.you should be able to get a kit of 300ws heads stands, umbrellas and cords for about a G.

I agree with Carty.
As for the Camera, it really depends on what you want out of it. Are you just using it for studio? or do you need a new one anyways. I'm a Nikon guy myself, but you can't go wrong by choosing either Canon or Nikon as long as you stick with one brand you can't go wrong. It's also great to have laptop to connect the camera to so you can see what you're doing.
good luck.
