Yea I just moved from Aberdeen having been there for many years.
It's not bad, it is pretty small as cities go and quite cold (even though we have our fair share of orange skinned ladies too) but the people are pretty sound.
I know someone who used to work for newsfeed, but not in photographer job.

Oh and i forgot to say if he is a photographer in aberdeen he should get used taking photos of oil machinery and technical stuff... there won't be much call for anything too creative... although it does depend who he will be working for, any ideas on the name of the company?

I lived in aberdeen for 17 years (im moving to london in jan 07), its not a bad place, its just not great either, people can be friendly (sometimes) but expect some real stick if you are english (i am). I has some great scenery etc just outside... so on the whole... it's ok!

I grew up in Aberdeen. Lots to recommend it. But it couldn't be more different from London.
Pubs and clubs are full of Offshore Tigers. (I'd stick to the Belmont St area).
It can get claustrophobic. Same faces in the same places.
And it's fooookin' freezing.

pal of mine moved up there to work in the oil trade about a year ago - he likes it, but I think would still prefer to be in one of the bigger cities...
its a nice town, but a bit wee after a while, is probably how he'd put it...
pity MX isn't still about here, he'd have plenty more info for your friend, though 2 of my ex flatmates from Barca are living there now, I could see if they have any good chat on the place...
