how do you upload images or music to the phone?

Whatever you do, DON'T visit the website of motorola or your service provider, nor should you check the instruction manual.
The easiest way I've found is to take the redundant instruction manual and a large mallet, place the razr under the manual then briskly whallop the topside of the manual, say, 10-20 times. Once you're done, check condition of Razr - if it's still in one piece and working, repeat the above step.
Once it is indeed broken to smithereens, contact your vendor and ask for a replacement, preferably with a model which is easier to upload media files to.

wouldnt recommend this phone - if you havent already bought it yet. my sister has one, she hears echos & static while talking.
also my cousin works for cingular's support dept. he told me the razr gets the most complaints by far (could be because many people have it though) and the display has a tendency to get fibers & particles inside the display. call volume is horrible too.
he recommened the LG CU500 to me, and I just bought it yesterday. $300 slim flip phone (w/MP3) for $50 with a 2 yr cingular contract.
i have a new iMac and yesterday i put a song on the phone using bluetooth - took only about a minute to transfer a song - wirelessly. it couldnt have been any easier for me - I was surprised. you can do this with image files too (images are a little faster to send).
this phone was voted top 5 cell phones of 2006 by CNET. Not as thin as the razr, but still thin, and very sleek.
Cousin said he gets little-to no complaint calls about this phone.
I'm buying a 1-2GB memory card today (slips in near the battery) so I can put more songs on there. I was actually going to buy an ipod, but probably not anymore. no need really.

first of all merry xmas to all!
I've had the RZR for a year now, and i haven't had any problems with it at all, works a charm.
So while everybody is judging this phone and that phone (eg. oh this fuckin fone doesn't have an mp3 player, or doesn't have a camera?!?!)
WTF?!! I think we are forgetting about what the purpose of a mobile phone is: IT'S JUST A F**N FONE, if u wanna camera, go and buy one, if u wanna mp3 player, there's plenty out there (and dirt cheap too). Phone is for calling (END OF STORY)Best wishes for the new year too!

phone is just for calling? okay 1999 ;)
the whole point of all this technology is so we dont have to carry 5 different gadgets all at the same time.
now if you're an actual photographer - sure i can understand, get a separate camera. but what's the disadvantage of combining everything you need into one little unit?
i had the hardest time picking a phone & service. so many contrasting opinions on the same thing. guess you just have to pick something & try it. everything seems to work differently for everybody.

a lot of helpful people on PVN huh?
you need to pick up the media kit from verizon (if thats your provider) and use windows media player to transfer your files to your phone ... its pretty slick when it works (the word there is "when")
i am looking for an excellent PDA/phone with full keyboard, mp3 and phone... any suggestions?

- nokia e61
- Sony Ericsson M600iboth are dope and very functional.
- spk0
does the e61 have FM? i dont think so.. sony makes one phone with it... no full keyboard though
- tkmeister0
i got an e61. it doesn't have FM but you can listen to internet radio though wifi. i like it so far. only thing is that it doesn't have a camera.
i'd never buy another sony phone ever. their user interface is so crappy.

hey - great point on web radio ... now i have to figure out how to get it working on Verizon. how is the mp3 player software? solid?

If you're with Cingular, grab the Sync (aka., a707). It's almost exactly the size of a RAZR, but it's got a ton of features. 2mp camera, mp3s, bluetooth, and if you decide on a multi media plan (which is what you'll need to send text messages and photos anyways) you can get streaming TV to your cell. It's pretty damn cool. It's also 3G and only costs $50 with a new contract.
I really wanted a PDA type phone, but why pay close to $100 a month when I can get most of that good stuff on a regular phone?
- tkmeister0
argh, i don't think you can make it work with verizon. mp3 player is ok. i have 2gb mem card full of music. but i don't use it often. it could be better but i am not complaining. i understand the limitations of e61 and it just works for me.

Oh yeah, the a707 SYNC has an expandable Micro SD slot. So I have room for like 700+ photos now and a ton of mp3s.
And although it's probably easier to use with a PC, I use my phone with a Mac and I'm able to bluetooth over all the photos and mp3s I can handle.

yes, sync is a good phone. not sure it's as small as the RAZR though. seems to be almost double the thickness.

(Dec 26 06, 14:51)I've held both side by side, and there really isn't much of a different. Actually, I think the RAZR was a bit longer and wider, and the SYNC was a bit fatter, but very similar in size.
- Antonelli0
i dont mean to be annoying, but...
RAZR = .54" thick
SYNC = 1.02" thickfrom cingular's site
- CincodeMayo0
Well that's odd, cause I just actually took a ruler and measured my phone and it's a little over the .5 mark, probably like 2/3 of an inch. DEFINITELY NOT AN INCH. Never said it was thinner than the RAZR, but it's not much bigger.
Apparently the Cingular site is wrong. It exactly measures .65", which again is pretty close to a RAZR.
In fact, here's a direct review quote..."Samsung’s latest clamshell SGH-A707 will hit the state side soon courtesy, Cingular. The phone is 17.5mm thick and features HSDPA, 2 megapixel camera, music player supporting Windows Media DRM. This phone is not as sleek as our beloved RAZR but it does pack more features in an extra 3.5mm thickness."
3.5mm. That's pretty close to me.
And FYI, the RAZR is a fine phone. I had it just before I got the SYNC and there aren't nearly as many functions.

your ruler is wrong.

You mean my RULR?
