Having lived in Germany for 4 years I already knew that...

oh my.. no offence could be taken on that, just getting facts straight :)
He was a Pole with Jewish roots, to be precise. And a tip: When in a bar in Vienna, don't make the mistake of saying "here in Germany", someone told me it was highly unrecommended

Yeah I know he's Polish. They were my wifes and she asked me to sell them. I just assumed because Solaris was filmed by Tarkovsky initially.
Wrongly as it turns out. One person pointed it out but it was too late to apologise.
I'm sorry if I have offended and poles or indeed russians out there. In fact to quote Jade Goody, "I'm disgusted in myself for saying what I have just seen myself saying. I do not approve of any of my actions and I do not approve of the words that came out of my mouth."

As if to prove my point. You really can sell anything on Ebay these days.
First bid on a used ticket stub is in...

So the consensus is - if you set up a store, eBay's still worth it?
JR - i'm an eBay n00b, i shoulda checked the buy/sell status in your history, but yes - it is interesting nosing around ;)

True enough JSK it happens. But I'm happy with my profit margins. I get more than dropping it off at my local Charity shops that's for sure.

that's good to know JSK

In fact Nairn I find what you're doing (looking at feedback history) one of the weird things about Ebay. It's often worth checking out the feedback of the people who buy off you. You find some odd purchases. Hours of (insert: sad, lonely) fun.

all those misc fee's add up to those 'IT' commercials on tv every 3 minutes.

In all my buying and selling I've only been burned once. Generally if you're sensible and web savvy (hopefully most of the people here are..) you won't get out.
Only an idiot's gonna get caught out by one of those fake paypal emails.

(Jan 17 07, 09:14)very true but when you see a guy with 40 comments at 100% rating, there is nothing really you can do.
i actually got the guy's address and wanted to have a visit but when i called (got his home phone via reverse look up and also phone on ebay), the guy moved away. so i mean, he was thinking of fraud and run

Actually I bought that. My wife loves Yorkshire Gold and it was a kind of joke xmas present for her (can't seem to find it over here).

viable alternative to ebay is using an ebay store in your area, go sell your stuff in someone else's "store" i have a place a half mile from me, we sell stuff through them all the time, just drop it off, sign, and let them know what your bottom dollar is, if they can't sell it you get it back, if they do, well, they send you a check, you may not make as much as selling it yourself, but you get their reputation and they do all the work. well worth it

v4 you went via your bank. i went via paypal which was a mistake because paypal made an instant judgement against me even though that guy sold the same item as Second Offer to 5 other people who bid on it. They said that there is no such thing as collective fraud, they deal with individual one by one. Which meant that, the guy said he sent the package providing tracking number (which was not sent to my address but that didnt matter to paypal cause as long as tracking is there, its confirmed sent)
then i called my bank, the bank said, paypal has made their judgement so they couldnt help me.
lesson of the day..
best way to fraud ppl on ebay is to offer Second Chance to multiple people, get their money and send random empty boxes to people and you win.

also, forget about complaining for none payment or fraud or none item sent.
they dont have toll free and also they have long wait time (45 min to 90 min) AND they wont resolve anything for you.
When ever it says Paypal, fraud guarantee on ebay, it means nothing cause paypal wont do crap.
