17" would be too big for it to be useful as a portable machine for me.
I have a 15" screen and even that is a pain to throw in a bag and lug over to the coffee shop...not to mention that when you get there and set it up on those tiny table it already takes up the whole damn thing. 17" would not work for me.

No regrets here about the 17. The screen real estate is worth it and it's really not cumbersome. All other laptops look small to me now.

really depends whether you use an external display... I have a 23" display at home and 24" at work to hook it up to, so 15" is perfect in between and when working on the road...

I had the 17. It is good if you use it without an external monitor and dont want to carry it around all the time.
I now have the 15. It is much easier to carry around.. use on a plane etc. The 17 was just too big. Get the 15 and get a 23 inch dell monitor or something to hook it up to at your desk. That helps a lot. and you can use both screens as dual monitors.
And now that the 15's are 1440 resolution, they are MUCH better to use.

I went with the 17" and trust me i have no regrets, I was about to buy the 15" but I needed to do alot of work out of my home and needed more viewing space for all applications. I have mine connected at home on a 22" LCD so if you are going to use it indoor most of the time, then get the 15" and save yourself a few bucks. I just upgraded the RAM and I am now selling my original 512mb chip that doesnt fit in the laptop since it only has 2 slots. let me know if you need it or want it, I'll give it out for 90 dollars, almost half the price.

$90 is the price of a 1gb chip, new with lifetime warranty

I have the 17"... biggest problem is finding a man bag that will fit it in.

i have to buy a macbook pro before 1st of april, it's not very possible that there's new laptops coming during march? or is it?

leopard is to be launched soon, most likely with hardware upgrades, but they might want to wait with it until intel's santa rosa chipset is launched. either way, it's always a bad time to get a new mac ;)
