It should have been Thought Bubble this weekend, but they're doing a pretty good version of a digital online version:

There's some interesting stuff over the weekend.

I know they haven't had a huge amount of time to pull this together, but the digital versions of the halls where the creators would have their tables to sell their goods is a bit clunky. I can't imagine people shifting a lot of comics as it just takes too long to browse.
I love wandering around the tables, chatting with the creators at Though Bubble and other cons, but there's not real alternate experience here.

Still, the content on YouTube on the post above is pretty cool.
- I'd really love to get down to that too, it's a really good mix of creators.PhanLo
- You go to Thought Bubble?! We may well have met! :) I've been for the previous 4 years (i'm a very small cog in a thing that has a few tables there)Nairn
- We didn't this year as the main guy I go with had a kid in October - and then, obviously, fucking 2020 shat its load on our plans.Nairn
- Yeah, I missed a year or two when they moved to the Leeds city centre, but went back last year for the first one in Harrogate. I had tickets for this years.Wolfboy
- Fingers crossed for an in the flesh event in. 2021. I really like the Lakes festival too, but the weather is always terrible.Wolfboy

- The level of restraint this guy shows is enviable.DRIFTMONKEY
- DRIFTMONKEY can you explain what you mean? I think i know what youre talking about but im prolly wrong. i dont trust my assumption hahamantrakid
- The detail and shading. It's always on the verge of stippling, but never quite crosses that threshold. Its all so subtle and purposeful. Every line. Restrained.DRIFTMONKEY

re: Warlord.
There was a second hand bookshop in my town that had regular donations of Starblazer comics. They were on the bottom shelf, displayed facing away from the cashier desk, making it very easy for 13 year old me to just as regularly steal them all.
My collection was sadly lost when my Father threw out mosy of my stuff when I went to Uni, but I occasionally dip into eBay and buy a few here and there to try and get a full collection.
Most of them are total shit, but then there're ones like this - one my all-time favourite comics:
It was so well illustrated and had some great techno-drawing, and not a bad story to boot.
Otherwise, they were mostly like this:
~20p! lol
- I'm tempted to buy another copy to sacrifice for scanning.Nairn
- The whole series is on here:

- < quite a few UK artists got their start on these and Commando. This was done by Colin Wilson who went onto do Rogue Trooper and other 2000AD lines.face_melter

- Read his Peter Pan back when it came out in 1990, was a huge shock.spl33nidoru
- ^Aw man, I found it in a comic shop and it blew my mind. It wasn't til I got to Paris in '99 that I saw how many books he'd made.PhanLo
- Watching that Heinrich Kley vid really reminded me of his style and also Claire Wendling https://www.instagra…PhanLo
- Yeah French guy here so I discovered his work early on :) even met him twice in Angoulême, very cool if intimidating dude!spl33nidoru
- I was 15 when PP came out, all this lust and grittiness was overwhelming, so raw and immersive. I'm afraid to re-read it and feel nothing, but I doubt it.spl33nidoru
- Yeah! The part where he's in the forest hallucinating and meets his mum was a shocker, didn't expect that.PhanLo
