Is there something personal there? Doesn't seem like it's much more than similar fontage and colours.

I'd say it's similar, not so much a direct rip off, there are worse rip off cases out there.

the only thing that is barely alike is the fact that they both use black, gray/white serifs, and 1pt line dividers...
by that standard ur both ripping off

and I must admit, that is more than a coincidence! I'd view it as admiration typog, but what makes it worse is the geography between the two places! If I was gonna rip something off I'd make sure I wasn't turning up at the same deign events/awards etc or even pitching for work!!Clowns!

even if they have ripped it off, i think theyve improved on it of they have!
i think the face group one is better.
nothing wrong with taking inspiration from something else and improving on it.
ripping something off blatantly and not doing with it though IS a sin.very rarely is someones idea completely original, we are ALL inspired by things we see around us whether we like it or not.

TheConsult is MUCH better executed IMO.

The Face Group one isn't bad. The logo, and some of the content needs to be switched or changed, but it's not totally ugly. The Consult site is good.
Looking through the Face site, I'm really starting to wonder how it could be a rip. I doubt it.
I haven't looked at the source code yet, but even the portfolio section is different on both sites. The formatting is similar, but that's because it's very basic. Many sites have the same type of layout going on.

I guess it could have to do with the fact that they are close in proximity, but then maybe he should state that before claiming a rip.

Mmm quite similar... but I remember The Consult's first site a few years back being a complete rip of another site... same code, layout and fonts.
