Am I just being nitpicky, or am I right to feel irked that the future of web design comprises badly re-sized jpegs?

hey thats the futoor... don't knock it
- digilee0
agree with nairn, bad site, bad line up, just bad, bad, bad.
the future of web design includes more of just the same old boring uk and us shite.
- mimeartist0
best you're not coming then eh?
- poomoo0
yahoo, 37 signal... boring and shite?
hmm, just you batter away at it then.
- mimeartist0
Was actually really good
- digilee0
how many times do you want to hear about yahoo and 37 signals?
My point is the future of web design ISN'T just about the UK and US.
What about eastern europe, japan ... china even?

i totally agree, Some pretty insightful stuff was shown... not just about design too, some great pointers about how some of the bigger companies actually work, idea process, workflow, ownership, etc. If i'd have known what was in store - i'd have taken a few of my clients along.
William Rosen, Rei Inamoto, Josh Hirsch, Steve Pearce.. where my highlights (in that order).
All in all a really interesting day.

yes, i thought it was pretty good but would have preferred more time for each speaker.
overall, i thought for the price, it was good value... even although i was dingied by mimeartist...
- rupedixon0
really?
What do you think you learnt about the "Future Of Web Design"?
Should have been called - some higlights of today's (and yesteryears) web design. But I guess that isn't a very catchy title....
Biggest revelation of the day: both HTML and Flash are cool, provided they're used appropriately.
Some very good speakers, a well organised event, but I'm afraid, nothing mind blowing.

learnt about taking stuff away from just being on screen... and the bloke towards the end with all the buzz words was quite good...
simplify, simplify, simplify...
the rubbish stuff was people talking about how to have a creative office (by having a football table) and showing flash wank.

and the 'poke bloke' was excellent... kept it succinct, funny and interesting for his 15 minutes...

I was very impressed by Rei Inamoto, I thought that he made a lot of good sense, which was applicable to any creative industry/individual.
I thought Brendan Dawes was great as well - and what he said was so true about getting inspiration from pretty much anywhere except the web. It just made me think how insular our proces can be.
Liked the poke fellow too.
I think I liked creative bias - but then thats what im into...
I'm afraid the only area that really touched on the 'Future' was the guy plugging apollo - which looks freaking awesome.

wait a minute, do i not exist?

no poomoo, you're a virtual personification of all of our feelings of disassociation and disconnection from others, hence the dingying.
I am the voice in your head, telling you that this is not your head.
