i am going to be looking pretty soon (this year) for someone to help me grow my company, etc, etc
essentially someone like me who doesn't mind working hard for their pay and wants to grow a starting web design company
where are the best places to look for such people?
i will be looking around in my area (reston, va), but should i look abroad?
anyone have any good/bad stories of stuff like this?
thanx all

i've got one now you can have...
Just be careful, don't go looking for partners, just look for people to work with.

yep, forget partners, just hire and pay someone/s.

yeah, i been thinking that way lately as well
but then, that means i gotta save up enough to be able to pay them salary and junk
how many people are willing to work fulltime and only get paid for the jobs they do?

fyi, it's easier to find people to do the work, then to find the work. Work on the latter

I think finding work is important but so is finding people who you can trust to do the work. I suggest you build a good portfolio of designers, local or abroad.
With freelancers you dont have to pay benefits and equipment.

you can add me and my crew to the list of people you work with if you want... although we are booked up for the moment.

There are no good designers in Reston, Va... Oh WAIT... I live in Reston, VA!
As I said, no good designers in Reston, Va.

I've been involved in a bunch of businesses over the years with a handful of partners: I have good experiences and bad experiences.
Bringing someone in out of the blue is a recipe for disaster. I've spent crazy money drafting contracts to prevent sour partnerships destroy companies and triple that to fight it in courtrooms that ended in bankruptcy anyway.
If you don't have a perfect partner for a business before you even have a busines plan, don't even think about bringing someone in. This has to be a person you trust more than yourself and you have to have the exact same goals.
Feel free to email me if you want some more info on the subject. I recently ditched a guy in a four partner company and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I agree. In my 18 years (holy f•ck) of working as a designer. I have only come across one person I jived with enough to have a partnership with.
You should definitely talk to Jox.
