thanks, I should be fine as long as I find something that is SATA 2.5
- rafalski0
it is a PC 3.5" drive, you need a laptop 2.5" one, something like http://www.bargainfeeder.com/bar…

yeah, that makes sense.
The reason I want to upgrade to 200 - 250 GB is because with the Mac OS X software and everything the 120 GB turns into just 95 GB left.

okay.
i have 120gb. then i have two 250gb external to keep all my work and other stuff.
it's better to keep your machine clean and have only what you need, i've been told. and have 2 externals so you can back up your backup.

iamnotyourgirl, I have a lot of media that I have to store somewhere. I have an external drive but I prefer having some of it on the internal.
And no, I'm a web designer. So I don't need too much space. But I feel that 120-160 is standard now.

raf, will this work:

what is it that you do that requires 160gb diskspace?
no offense but every time i come here, i always see your posts in almost every thread.
are you a motion graphic designer or something?
- rafalski0
Jaline, I advise you to upgrade to a 7200 rpm drive, they're a tad pricier but do make a difference. The biggest of these are 160GB I think
- Jaline0
Okay, so I called like 3 different times before making up my mind and asking for a refund just for the HD space that I ordered. They gave it back, plus the expedited shipping charge for the inconvenience. So now I have my system and can just upgrade the HD myself.
- Jaline0
Yeah, they said they'd give me more info on how to send it over. The only problem is that I won't be here next week and I'm not having anything delivered before then in case it gets stolen / lost.

Jaline I think you can take back/send back the Macbook for a replacement within 7 days...you dont neccessarily have to go through Applecare. They have basically not sent you the computer you ordered, so its still a sales issue, not an Applecare issue (at least thats how it works here in UK).
I once bought a 30" display.. they delivered it, I decided I didn't like it after a week (too big!), so they came and picked it up again and gave me a full refund... not bad service... not sure if that was normal..

I wouldn't run Parallels unless I had more RAM. It lags a bit.

I'm with slappy! But gonna see how bootcamp runs, heard it's part of 10.5 and I'm sure it will just have everything parrallels does
- slappy0
All the dudes at my work run Vista and OSX at the same time on their powerbooks. Both systems boot at the same time then you just flick between them. You can even copy in one then past in the other. They share the same desktop and files etc.
I'm waiting for 10.5 then grabbing one.

I just got my Macbook today and I discovered that it came with the 120 GB HD instead of the 160 GB.
So now I have to return the entire thing and I'm pissed. I won't even be here next week, so I have no idea what's going to happen or how long it'll take (still waiting for the Apple Care email that will tell me how to proceed with sending my new machine away).

5) I need some info on the differences between a PC and Mac for designers, or if there are any at all.

I have about 5 other PCs in my house right now, so I figure having a faster Mac around wouldn't hurt.
