I know this has been covered in here before but no search results are coming up.
Best size for screen design?
Any good in Illustrator?
Any type recommendations?
Getting sick of drawing on paper then scanning then re drawing in Illy.

The bigger, the better (6 x 11 is great, go bigger if you can swing it); shoot for the intuos series (graphire is their bottom shelf series); excellent in illy, you'll never go back to mouse.

the intuos3 is great but i wouldn't recommend something too big, it really depends on your screen size imho.
small screen + huge tablet = very disturbing when you're using it i think.
i have a 6x8 with a 30 inch screen and it's perfect. I wouldn't recommend anything bigger if you have a smaller screen.
also don't worry, it can be weird to use at first but like Greedo said, you can't go back to mouse after.

I use twin 19inch 4:3 monitors so maybe 8x6 might be big enough?
Work will buy so I can get what ever under a grand or so.
Thanks fo rthe fast responses.

On my dual-screen setup I can only use the Wacom on one monitor. I can probably change that - but I guess that would 'crop' the area used on the tablet to a thin horizontal strip, which would be shit.
Also, the big tablet/small monitor concern is pretty redundant these days - if you're running 1024px wide and above (which you will be), you'll want the largest possible (ie. A5+)

interesting, so mouse on one screen wacom on the other?
I guess that works, I dont spread my workspace over two monitors or anything, I tend to use one for web/NT and extended tool bars and one for workspace.

Basically - 'the way to work it out' (if there is any) is to put a sheet of paper over your workspace monitor - if it's a4 or larger - go A4 or larger. If it's not - don't.
But it will be, so do.

(Jul 9 07, 18:35)Yep, although I call this "research".
- Nairn0
Oh yes, of course - 'research'.
I should get a fucking gov't grant for the amount of 'research' i do.

Has anyone ever actually worn a nib down on their Wacom? I've had mine for about 5 years, the last 2 of which I've used it a fair bit - and I still can't see any wear on it.
- GreedoLives0
We have graphire ones at work, and yes, the nib on mine is almost gone after about 3 years of using it...they're easy to replace, i'm just lazy.

sorry, one more thing, does the Intuos3 mouse have to be used on the tablet or can it be used as a normal mouse on the desk?
Doesnt say on the site?
- GreedoLives0
has to be on wacom...they're kinda shite, i just keep a regular mouse hooked up and around in case of a case...
only good for playing games really.

ok cool.
