Any idea why this code will not work from a .exe or projector file? They both live in the same directory.
on (release) {
fscommand("exec", "file.pps");
}

are they in a fscommand folder?
I usually use a batch file (.bat) with .exe and projectors to open docs. don't work on macs though

Yeah I went through a very similar headache a few months back trying to open PDF files...basically, it just doesn't work the way it should. After spending as much time as I did on this problem, it would probably be faster just to redesign that power point into a flash presentation.
There are some third party apps that help you bundle the projector files. I learned a lot about this on flashkit.com

You could do that with custom fs commands on both platforms.

Thanks, I thought it was going to be a pain in the arse!
I agree the best way forward is to re-do the PPT in Flash.

Okay this was odd...my boss just called me into his office to ask about the same project I just mentioned in here...which we haven't talked about in months. haha talk about coincidences.

i tried to forget that project (a month ago) but when i remember it correctly i opened ppt files from an flash projector for pc (exe) with getURL.
the pain in the ass was that the powerpoint opened behind the fullscreen(!) flash exe presentation.
i wonder how those 3rd part applications solve that. i presume that they open the files (pdf, ppt, doc) in front of the flash presentation?
and i also wonder why you need another app to fix that. why can't this be done with actionscript and .bat/.exe files?
