Hello
Im very new to indesign and im just working through the basics at the moment. Basically ive drawn a circle but when i scale it the line weight stays the same no matter what size i make the circle, ive tried various ways of holding ctrl, alt, apple etc but have had no luck. Is there a setting i need to check?
cheers

In the transform palette there is an option to 'scale stroke' I'll be fucked if I can get it to work though ;-(

Cheers Haydesign
Yeah, i played about with that and with holding various keys with it both on and off but nothing seemed to do the trick.
Anyone else have any idea?

There me think it would be a good idea to but that in the FUCKING STROKE PALETTE, Adobe.

it's super-hidden in the transform window.
in that transform window you can see a tiny little arrow.
when you click that one you can find some options to select.
they did that in somewhat all panels. but when you're familiar with it, it's not that bad.
good luck.

Mine is a *cough (demo version) of indesign. Only reason I can think why it don't work properly!!

There is a scale stroke an transform in illy cs2 which works great, just bloody indesign doesnt seem to have such a simple option.
But there must be a way to do it... if not im going back to quark!

It is not working for me to, and I have the full working application?
- waynepixel0
Right, I have just tried to scale stroke manually, and it did not work. But if you use the scale down option box in the transform pallet, it works.
WTF that about.

cool
so what needs to be ticked? i have 'dimensions include stroke weight', 'transformations are total', 'show content offset' and 'scale strokes' all ticked and i still have no luck... what keys do i hold while i scale? or is there something else i need to set?
- stewart0
James, i forgot to say that when you have these all set you have to scale it with the scale tool selected from the tools window. not the regular black arrow cursor.
how about now?

You can:
- Scale while using the "Transform" tool.
- Scale using the percentage values in the Control panel. Both works
Do not scale while using the black arrow (selecting) tool.

hmm, it kind of works, although, the line does (sometimes) get thinner and thicker) yet its still says its the same wright in the toolbar... bizarre
- JamesBoynton0
cool! the percentage one seems to work fine but the toolbar still shows it as the original weight.... unless i clicek set reset scaling to 100.... is that right?
cheers guys

After transforming you have to select "take scale to 100%" from the menu in the Control panel.

This is just all wrong, WTF where Adobe thinking about.
I have come to the concussion that the scale stroke feature in, ill, is just plain shite. :)
- lele0
Well, try the CS3 version, you can scale the stroke using the selection tool with Shift+Apple+Click...
