what version of osx are you running?
I had that problem at work and then quickly realized I was on 10.3.9 which doesn't support CS3.

I'm on 10.3.9, I thought you couldn't install 10.4 on power pcs..can you?

I had 10.4 on a PowerPC, but it's a G5. Not sure about G4's but you can install Leopard on a top end G4 can't you?

it works, installed in on my old powerbook, but u need at least one gig of ram.

I have a G4 powerbook and it's been running 10.4.1 for a while now.
Not gonna risk eating any more memory with CS3 though

10.4 runs fine on a PPC, but CS3 chugs on it. I used to run 10.4.X on it.
I'd say stick to CS2 until you can upgrade your computer to an intel. Unless you absolutely have to use CS3 on your PPC - avoid that shit (though it really is better in a lot of ways)

(Nov 8 07, 06:57)I'm trying right now, my powerbook crashes and won't read the installer dvd that came with my macbook pro. It crashes, and I have 2g on it.

how old is your g4? mine is 2 and a bit and im running 10.4.10 fine and dandy. it actually came with 10.4.x , if i remember correctly. Never even heard of anything remotely similar to not being able to instal 10.4 on a g4

I'm using the 10.4 disc that came with my macbook pro, on my powrbook g4 but it crashes everytime, I get the kernel panic screen everytime:
http://images.google.com/images?…so, I'm stuck, I hace CS3 but my powerbook wont let me install 10.4 on it.
any suggestions?

hmmmm... i heard that some cds come 'prepared' for certain models. ie. an imac comes with a disc that might not run on a powerbook and vice versa... unless you buy the generic os disc to instal. but i don't know how true this is.
