Helping out a friend of a friend. I donated my time to a Kickstarter campaign and one of the donors wanted a label design for some bottles of homemade bitters and vanilla extracts. The bottles will be given as gifts during Christmas. He wanted an apothecary aesthetic and to brand it as "Bearded Lady". There's very little design I admit, but more illustration and lettering. I like seeing other people's processes and wanted to share mine. (Cool. Story. Bro.)
1. Sketchbook ideas 2. Roughing out some concepts 3. More developed illustration 4. First go, after putting into Illustrator...which finally evolved into the last few images after a lot of clean up and redrawing of elements in Illustrator.
- love this so much, love the recorded process too!Miguex

- huh, where's her mouth, how am I the only one to see how weird it looks.canoe
- I'm inclined to agree. The final result lost all femininity. The slender neck and less lines in the face of the original are gone.dopepope
- the process is nice tho, and it's still well done.dopepope
- I tried to keep the integrity of the initial sketch as much as possible. In regards to the mustache + beard rendering, it was a conscious choice not to emphasize the mouth. I tried to find ways for it to still read even when reduced to small scales. That was my solution.Complexfruit
