is still great.
it's scary to think college freshmen were born the year nevermind came out.i got in to music through green day myself but "unplugged" and "nevermind" were early learnings. regardless, this band is still awesome.

For some unknown reason, I know that on Fuse (which apparently is a music channel), they are going thru Nirvana in their music videos at about 10PM(EST) I believe.
Interviewing random music people and the like about their impact and what not.

- Haha, I assumed as much, but I was flipping thru random channels and saw the Henry Rollins Show...flavorful

"it's scary to think college freshmen were born the year nevermind came out."
Not quite, couple more years, but yeah frighteningly close.
They are still really fresh in many ways.
This thread reminded me of this:- Fresh if you think biting Frank Black's Johnson is fresh.mnmlst

I just watched the newley releasd uncut Unplugged video. Its funny how much sarcastic sincerity the band has. Its a sincerity that is completley lost in pop bullshit music nowadays (sounding like a crochety old fart here... darn kids!). I'd be really happy if someone could point me to a band that conveyed the sincertiy in anyway.

It's a generation thing, obviously. I like them, but I never got the chance to get into their music while they were around. I can't think of any right now, but I'm sure some people can name off sincere bands. Just gotta watch more interviews :)

I'm 34 now and basically "Nevermind" changed my life when it came out...
Just saw the DVD "Live at Reading" yesterday and it still blows me away...The switch from "More than a feeling" to "Smells Like Teen Spirit":

While my Mom is not into Rock/Grunge music, somehow she likes Unplugged in New York album.
Their music is like a wine - gets better once it gets older.

I saw them twice. Once supporting Mudhoney during their Bleach era and the other during a small tour just after Nevermind was released. The contrast between the two shows was quite something. From grungey plaid to screaming girls. They were good live but he didn't half choose some shite support acts... Shonen Knife anyone? Rubbish.

The guy was pretty much the worst singer and guitar player you will ever hear, but I still thought they were good, but not great.
They got big because they were different. If you listen to in utero for example, there is so many shit songs on that album, its hard to understand why anyone liked the.

It's weird to think that if they were still here in 2010, they would have probably become lame and sellout and boring. maybe not..
I really likes them at highschool. it was a shock when i heard about his death. i was in the school bus and we heard it on the radio.
- " lame and sellout and boring" like the Foo Fighters?fooler
