They seem like they would be best for archiving records.
What are you using it for?

I'd save my money by getting any turntable, plugging the rca connectors to an rca-to-1/8" cable (radio shack or bestbuy) which plugs directly to your mac. use any audio software to record.
then use the money for more important things.

It probably comes with a shitty stock needle. I wonder if they sell upgrades

I used to record my records on to Mini-Discs...
- haha- me too. That was the best feature of minidiscs - live recording.Soler

I used to work there. While it's a stupid, chaotic and petty company in the corporate sense, they make good product 8/10 times. Their turntables are solid.

What artburn said. This sounds like a case of technological overkill.

Y-cable brings it through to the computer in mono though.

I think they key is the software it comes with to rip the music. It's be nice if there was a "next track" function where you could hit a button while recording to divide up the tracks. Thats what sucks about Garage band. You have to edit the audio file, make individual tracks, blah blah blah

I was reading and basically you just use audacity, which allows you to set markers inside of the huge file that it makes of each side of the vinyl. Then when exporting you can opt to split the files up.
