Madirish, work at an agency for a couple years. The difference between an AD and a CD is, for lack of a better comparison at the moment, the difference between a Stock Broker and a CEO.
But the point of this thread is stupid, it's not something up for debate or "in your opinion", these are set roles with set definitions. The only purpose of saying "in your opinion" is to really say "please teach me, I'm an ignorante cunt"
- seems like a self righteous type that would tell you that your booze sucks at a partymrdobolina

what is a Stock Broker?

what is production - madirish
Production, my dear boy, is how ideas get executed. An idea is produced, sometimes through freelance designers such as yourself, but often through professional teams.

what is a professional team?

Ah, I think I see the problem now....Matt "Madirish" Ludwig also callls himself an art director on his portfolio page.
- madirish0
no, no problem clearly.

On a side note, I've been wondering what QBN stands for... is it Queen Bitch Network?

Creative Director= Conceptual thinker, branding overseer, marketing lion-tamer
Art Director= Style pusher, design overseer, technical suggester....

Just a note of advice to Kevin Ross and this Matt Ludwig fellow. Perhaps you should take off the "Art Director" title from your folios until you fully understand what you're talking about, or at VERY least have occupied those positions.
- note of advice: ponyboy and madirish have better work than you..take it out on someone else.studderine
- why do you care so much.TheDrago

who cares?!

i think the definition of art director changed over the years. and also there seems to be a huge difference between traditional advertising ADs and interactive ADs, in terms of how their roll is defined. In interactive world, everyone from a designer to a sr AD is pretty much called an art director.

Alexey Brodovitch was an art director. Fabien Baron is a creative director. what's the difference?

Alexey Brodovitch was an art director by classical definition, but Fabien Baron willfully stands astride the perceived divide like a gargantuan multi-tasker in a SO-WOT? hat.

By the way, what's a pantone?
