Are there techniques on how you can control the ink when dealing with the texture the wood creates? I think there would be a lot of play if there were ways to control that texture.

Lots of good stuff there. I really like the Johnny Cash piece in the sixth photo. Looks like a really good time.
Thanks for sharing the step-by-step photos. I love the way your piece turned out. Did it get a good response at the show?

woah... Dope, Bonseff!!! Thanks for sharing, man. :)

Doh! And nice freaking work there, Seff. That's what I meant to say at first and got sidetracked on the grain filling instructions.

From the "better late than never" category: A great way to fill the grain of that wood is to use plaster of paris.
Take the plaster and thin it with water until it's thin enough to spread with a brush (a cheap foam brush works very well). Spread it evenly over the surface of the wood and allow to dry for 30-60 mins. Then sand, beginning with 120 grit and work through 150, 180 and 220.
This is also a great way to fill porous woods that you want to stain, then top coat with a clear finish.

Nice, I got a 4x6 canvas from blick I wanted to do something similar to.
Any good resources on this subject?

i got some crazy ideas for mine, alternating wood stains, then print it then bury it in gym floor urethane.

i did this so you know what to look out for dobbs.
if your plywood is a wrecked piece of shit, and you want a good print out of it...
i suggest get some puddy and fill in the gaps and sand that bitch smooth.otherwise, just go with it, and see what happens
GOOD LUCK!
&show us what happens
