I'm looking for a nice lightweight text editor with css html and php syntax highlighting for windows. They're ten a penny of os x but I'm having a hard time finding a decent one for windows...

I'm not a PC guy and therefore do not know but some PC guys say that htmlkit is good.

TopStyle is the best light-weight editor for CSS i've ever dealt with:
http://www.newsgator.com/Individ…But as a cross-country app between html/css/php I think you'll be ok with PSPad if you work on the libraries:
http://www.pspad.com/- i usually work with TopStyle and Pspad at the same time. Maybe not the best workflow in the world but it works for me just fine.Witt
- just fine. Those two are pretty slick after you learn how to interchange data between them.Witt
- They certainly look featureful but they have seizure inducing interfaces...kalkal
- seizure inducing interfaces?! not everything needs to be fashionable you know?Witt
- jesus...Witt
- not enough icons for you to read kalkal? I don't get it.Witt
- don't tell me PSPad icon doesn't look too good in your screen for pete's sake?! wannit purfect didn't ya?Witt

Not a big fan of topstyle myself...

textpad?

Witt, lightweight+syntax highlighting... thats all I want... no learning curve (no matter how small it is). I understand that those apps may do a lot, they do a lot of stuff I'll never use too. I'll look into TopStyle though IE can be a pain in the ass. Thanks for suggesting. As for my original request, Intype fits the bill perfectly :¬)

Oh wait... its not free. Fail!

I second PSPad - it's really customizable and is an exceptional free product. TopStyle *is* free, but only if you don't mind not going for the pro version. I recommend staying away regardless.

I like SciTE - Free

even works with Flash AS files

pspad if you go free, ultraedit if you dont mind spending some
notepad is nice, if you tweak the syntax highlighting.. I can't work with comments in
comic sans italic
ugh

Just looking through my old threads and found this.
Thought I'd point out that http://www.e-texteditor.com/
Is the BEST editor I've managed to come across period.
The multiple timeline history is SO useful, I could blab on forever about how many little things make it good, yet its very easy to use too.- ...And I just noticed TheBlueOne pointed that out to me months ago and I never paid attention.kalkal

EditPlus is great! FlashDevelop is another option - especially if you do any flash/flex development.

Are there any Free editors for the Mac available?
- amullins0
Forgot to mention Aptana - not lightweight, but worth mentioning - it's free!

editplus is good...i haven't tried the "e" editor, but heard good things there as well.
these days i'm happy on the mac with textmate :x
