Well for the most part it depends what school/program you are getting them through. The obvious answer is that an M.A. is a Master of Arts degree that usually is a more general degree that includes curriculum outside of Fine Arts (the F.A. in MFA). An MFA will expose you to the world of arts in a variety of disciplines whereas an MA has more traditional expectations.
To the best of my understanding.

hmmm... i would really think long and hard as to what you want to do after you get that MFA, SCAD gets a lot of hype, but i'm not buyin' it... they also have a massive student body for a design school, so naturally the top 50 students are realllly good... If you're a self - starter and have lots of drive and ambition. Pick a place based more on the facilities than prestige. Just my 2 cents.

wow, lot's of typos..sorry bottom line, don't choose a school just based on hype. lots of other factors involved. also, if you ever want to be a professor for a major university, you're most likely gonna need an MFA not an MA but it depends on you're concentration. It's hard to get Tenure as a Prof at state uni's w/o an MFA for a field like mo-graph or animation.
