Can we go back making action movies like this?
Less greenscreen, less CGI (and only when necessary), well written stories and scenes.
- Oh and Robert Patrick seems to have been a NIN fan in 1990-92 already (wearing a jacket/ t-shirt)NBQ00

- Maverick ? but then along came the internet and it's war porn, not diverse enough, blah blah blah. T2 just wouldn't be universally loved like it was then.MrT
- Mad Max: Fury Road was an amazing practical effects meets cgi blend. Great film.jagara

Ran across this animation while looking up the history of ramen. It was created in ww2 japan but the samurai theme is pretty cool

Imagine being the surgeon that came up with this. Having the balls to actually try it on a patient and succeeding. Wow, respect!Ianbolton - This is mad as fuck. But top level human ingenuity dealing with such adversity. Gotta love our genuine capacity to deal with these things in such mental waysIanbolton

- this could easily turn deadly. not worth it and for what? exposing idiots for not returning their carts?_niko
- funny the me-first and fuck the world attitude of some of these dudes, this would never happen in Japan_niko
- "American exceptionalism" at being selfish fucks. Bonus points for the "kaat-naak" calling out his hypocritical shirt/actions. Would be better using a megaphonebrandonp
- I think this (and many other things happening recently) are a symptom of human society having made existing so easy. Existing was once the problem to solve.epigraph

- Here in PT the carts are locked, you can only unlock them with a coin, that you get once you return it. Also, there are stations across the parking lots.dmay
- Also, people enjoy watching videos of people arguing in parking lots?dmay

- Seems like an over budgeted architect graduation project. Reminds me of The Venus Project. Stuff like this will never make it past the drawing board.jagara

- it's in Saudi Arabia, they've got the money and the slave labour to pull it off I guess, but it'll be just as shitty as everything else they've built there._niko

- Also on and on about environmental pluses but all I see is massive impact on animals that migrate by land, millions of dead birds for starters...prophetone
- ...and ill-effects on the surrounding landscape as wind patterns affected, also if all eggs in one structural basket earthquakes/hurrican... have amplified effectprophetone
- And how do 5 million people evacuate to another area nearby in an emergency if no more vehicles? i.e. TRON. Also consolidated systems are begging to be hacked.prophetone
- Also btw personal privacy or attempting to be off grid of any sort is zero. And the mental well-being of 5 million people in a box will be fun to keep in check.prophetone
- Good times!prophetone

Not a vid, but there’s too much for a note for the NEOM vid.
They’re proposing to take the Kowloon Walled City model, but actually make it a wall.
That was a population of 50,000 people, and it took no time at all for it to devolve into absolute madness. Put 9,000,000 people in that situation and in the desert? You’re gonna need a Judge Dredd or 12 for that shit.

- ^ Actually relevant old vid of that psycho that beat Simcity.garbage
- scarabin0
I think it’s a fascinating idea, and would make a compelling sci-fi setting. Alcohol and stuff is illegal over there so there’s potential for an organized crime story
- obvious issue with it is that to get from point A to point B in the desert or to get to the coast, you'd have to travel around the wall 270 km._niko
- I’m sure there would be doors involved. One of the promo vids i saw said it offered access to the surrounding naturescarabin
