Just found this channel where this dude supposedly finds ancient hoards with detecting equipment. I can’t decide if it’s real or not from the couple videos i watched.
On one hand, he’s digging through well-established root systems in earth that looks undisturbed for a long time, in places where it makes sense there could be hidden stuff. The artifacts look legit to my admittedly untrained eye.
On the other hand, the dude wears a mask that looks like it could have been fashioned with the same equipment and techniques the artifacts were made with, and his luck is remarkable. The objects sometimes seem intentionally covered in mud and schmutz.
I want to believe it’s real but at the same time would be horrified if it were because of the way the objects and the surrounding sites are treated. It’s clever stuff if fake.
- Looks fake to me. Like a lot of those restoration videos where they fake the wear on an item then clean off the shit that they put on themselvesGnash
- seems dubious and totally illegal if real._niko
- That spearhead in the cover pic is like those you see in a Halloween shopGnash
- having said that, I'd love to spend a summer with the kids doing something like this_niko
- After watching the rest not a chance this is legit.Gnash
- @niko 100% would love that tooGnash
- When I was just out of art school I spent some time on a dig in Greece drawing the objects that were dug up by the excavation team. Best summerGnash
- Closest I came to digging up treasure was finding the spot my grandfather had buried all his guns when the Germans came to townGnash
- damn, that's so cool, it'd be a dream..._niko
- Just watched some more. He finds a “jewel egg” in one vid that i recognize from another vid. My mom had one of them when i was a kid. Hahascarabin
- In Greece you need a license to use a metal detector. And even then, need special permission to use it at any locationGnash
- Interesting. Closest i got was finding arrowheads in east texasscarabin
- ^ sweet. I hear that arrowheads are all over down thereGnash
- Yeah, there was a shallow cave next to a lake where i lived as a kid. A friend and his dad had brought a screen door to the site and we used it to sift the areascarabin
- I found one but the dad later showed me a small bucket he had filled with finds. Blew my mindscarabin
- At 17mins in. He's dug a small hole, goes in, and... it's very light. BS he made a small hole into an existing little area where he preplaced artefacts.shapesalad
- Yeah, i think it’s just porno for detectoristsscarabin
