Is there a way to collect Final Cut projects like how you would collect an InDesign file when you go to print (i.e. preflighting)?
Hmmm...

If you are referring to exporting your mechanical with all fonts, images, etc., then i really doubt it.
FCP frequently uses files that are gigs upon gigs in size. The equivalent would just be being vigilant in where you store all your media.

Yes it does. You want to use the Media Manager, it will allow you to copy or move files to a new directory and lets you specify what to copy over. Check it out.

Nice. I'll check out Media Manager. Thanks

Also, coming this summer is a piece of software called Flow by Gridiron Software. http://gridironsoftware.com/Flow… It tracks all the files that make up your source file and manages output and versioning and a whole host of awesome things I wish I had a year ago.
- Oh, and its for any creative type file format.ninjasavant
