ms Word & hi-res images

Applied a hi-res pdf background image in a word template. Problem is when I print the image looks totally shit!!!
Do I need to use a different file type? Tried linked and embedded versions and both look horrid.

they will not render proper in word at all.
best you can do is a 96dpi .png, which will take in word fine. i would bump contrast and saturation levels up artificially as well to compensate some when printing it. thing that sucks is; word WILL accept the hi-res fine and store it all in the document, but the printing engine will throttle it down to some assinine setting on the output.

Bingo! Try 300dpi PNG, that seemed to work great, make sure it has a white background tho!

150dpi CMYK Tiff was all that worked for me (Word 2004 Mac)

Damn hope the client has same version of word.
