i know about 10 professional photogs that do quite a bit....
- mirrorball0
and they are all on apples aperture website

what is more apropos in this discussion, is the fact 10.5 *finally* supports RAW format photos now w/ the 10.5.2 update. pretty weak it did not from the start, let alone take this long....

tried it for about a week and switched to lightroom as fast as I could

Never used Aperture, is it any better than Lightroom? Actually, after using the dog slow Bridge, Lightroom is blazing fast.
- Raniator0
Yes, Bridge is wack.
So people go for Lightroom over Aperture then?
- madirish0
different applications altogether, really.
for instance, i know many, many 'pro-sumer' amateur photogs that use Lightroom; i do not know one professional photog that does. those same pros ALL use Aperture, all of them.
they are both great in their own right, but as a full-fledged image application with built-in workflows for larger groups and projects, Aperture is hands down 'better'.
fair enough?

I prefer Aperture, but I do most of my stuff in film. If I was really serious about the best possible choice, Aperture probably wouldn't be it– yet.

Lightroom seems to only support "one tag per image" approach when keywording.. is it the same with Aperture?
- No, Aperture supports almost unlimited. To be honest, one truly needs a course to understand entire scope of the app.madirish
- ...app. much like 4D, FCP, etc- there is *much* more below surface than may appear.madirish
- one keyword per image? LR is unlimited.danthon
- LR seems to treat every tag set as a single chain, rather than set of one-word tags. You can seek separate words ofc.rafalski

Thanks, I'm downloading Aperture2 demo now then.

The only thing I miss from aperture in lightroom is the full screen mode. Sure you can make all the panels fold away but it just isn't the same as having the HUD

what i love about lightroom VS aperture:
1- i can make catalogs and just have 1 project that i am dealing with. in aperture, they are ALL in the left column. I hate mixing shoots. (i know i can make a project but every other project is also there.)
2- I can make preset looks and download them off the web. I cna share those looks with others.
3- speed. even on a simple dual core G5 maxed out its still sluggish.
correct anything i got wrong please.
