happened to my old G4. I didn't even bother getting it fixed - bought an iMac instead.

Yes this happened to an ibook in my old work quite often, the trick I used was to roll my finger around the on button rather firmly, imagine you are sticking a wee sticker down and wanting to make sure every adhesive part of that sticker gets contact, this worked most of the time.

have you tried holding power button in a long time to make sure its not actually crashed/frozen, not off?

it happened to my ibook g3. when closed it obviously didn't turn off the screen and other functions and overheated itself. even some parts melted. no chance of survival. heard it was a general fail-thing with the g3s.

These "Mac's" sound really great and reliable.
I might buy one.

Well - to be fair to the poor thing I have been running CS3 on it non stop for a couple weeks working 13-14 hour days without a reboot. Fucking thing has just probably had enough and would rather die than have to handle batch processing anymore fucking banners...and I can't say I blame it
