i hope VMD takes Blu-Ray down

I have a soft spot for Toshiba because their laptops never gave me problems (compared to Macs and other PC brand names). But yes, it was a losing battle for them.

Gotta say jaline, that story about Sony support for blue ray was from 2006.. little outdated, no?
- Jaline0
That was just an example. And it's from October...not that long ago. Granted, Christmas didn't occur yet.

Oh, sorry, yes, that was from a while back. I was thinking of something else. If you search you can find more articles.

Anyway, the sales for PS3 have always been last in the race. I think it mainly has to do with price. Maybe this Blu-ray issue will help.

Sony says that they expect the PS3 to outsell the Xbox 360 by 2010 and Wii by 2011. of course by that time, Xbox 720 and Wii 2 (or whatever they'll be called) will be out by then.

between steve erwin and my own experience with sting rays, I will never embrace this. Long live cassette tapes!

Jaline - you have lost your mind. PS3 is last because it came out a year later than the 360. It may have lost the price battle with the Wii but against the 360, it only is behind due to when it was released and the shortage of released systems. If the PS3 came out a year earlier than the 360, you'd see it in the lead by far.
- and to say sony lost credibility.. they own everything broadcasting wise.. everything you watch, was made on sony gear..Meeklo

Hopefully now Apple will pull their finger out and slap a Blu-ray superdrive in a MacBook Pro.

Wow, you guys are pretty touchy about Sony.
TheTofuFactory, for younger people Sony is known for Playstation. Of course, it's a huge company with so many ties to everything, but I am specifically talking about credibility in terms of gaming.
PS3 may be one of the best gaming consoles, but it will always be compared to the X-Box 360 and the Wii, no matter when each one came out. Monthly sales are quite important. Sony obviously had marketing issues, and they are starting to redeem themselves. Now that Blu-Ray is winning, the sales should go up and possibly surpass the other consoles, primarily the X-Box.
