Hey QBN. I'm currently a print designer in San Diego, CA and my fiance is exporting us to Dallas, TX for her PhD at UT Southwestern where we will spend the next 6 years of our lives.
Anywho, I've looked through some CA's and other design annuals to find good agencies in Dallas, TX to start contacting and haven't been blown away yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm sure I haven't looked hard enough.
I would like to stay in print and work for a graphic design studio (as opposed to ad or interactive). Any suggestions? Many thanks.

pretty big ad agency there. not sure about smaller shops though.

Thanks much! I've been having the same luck trying to find the smaller shops.

sorry to burst your bubble but the chances of you staying married for another 6 years are pretty slim.

Anyone live in Dallas have any advice, etc?

Seff laid out some good leads, but also check into the DSVC for more. They are actually the nation's largest creative club with 1000 members or so including everyone from boutique studios to agencies.

I'm in Dallas but haven't been able to get out of in-house corporate creative yet... but I got some more links for ya! btw, DSVC only requires membership for new job posts. After 10 days (I think) they go public.

i lived there for most of my life... finally came to San Francisco a couple years ago to hopefully find smaller shops doing better work. The majority of work your going to find is larger agencies, AD and interactive(what you didn't seem to want) being the bulk. Work is very easy to find i would say in Dallas. There are so many large agencies in a town that is truly lacking the "Creative" vibe that city's like NYC, SF and others seem to come by naturally. Dallas is really trying tho... every time i go back it seems like the art scene and creative world are taking large leaps ahead making it seem like the more interesting "Dallas of the 80's" when ecstasy's was being born in Dallas streets and money was flying around like it was an airborne allergen.
a few to add to the list are,

Hey cured, thanks for the input. That's definitely the stuff I need to hear. To be honest, that's my biggest worry is that it won't be as creatively explosive as any designer would expect.
