I have a potential job application asking for a "CV/written application"
Would you take that as a written CV AND cover letter OR a regular typed up CV and a written cover letter?!

hahaha, i would think it's a cv and a cover letter, both typed. call and ask!

A CV and a cover letter, or in the absence of a CV, a detailed written application. Better to stick with the CV option though imo.

I vote for: Both

On the one hand I wouldn't immediately think they literally meant 'written' as in hand written, but on the other hand pre-profiling applicants can soemtimes include having handwriting analysed. So I would check first I guess, and if they want handwriting to analyse, go and get someone else write your letter for you.

My handwriting is awful though :/
I guess I'll call them then...
