Is there and good app to make Mac read and write on windows partitioned HDs?
I just bought an 750GB external one and I'd like to make both Mac and Windows share files there, what's the best way? I'm a newbie Mac user.

Only if it's formated FAT/FAT32. If it's NTFS you're out of luck.

FAT32's the way to go.

You can try MacFUSE and install NTFS 3G.

Fat32 is crap. Doesn't support permissions and it's easily damaged. It's literally a design from the 70's...

or maybe there's hope with the newly released Fat64... don't know if it works on older Windows systems or any OSX's at all but it may be worth investigating...

it says something on the ntfs-3g.org forum about not needed macFUSE anymore.

Actually i just checked my bootcamp partition and i can view and copy files from it in OS X. So you could try going with ntfs and see how things go?

or go the other way round and use MacDrive on Windows to read mac disks...
or use network storage instead (they are getting cheap), which will share all your stuff on your LAN or over the internet through Apple File Sharing (AFP), Windows Sharing (SMB), FTP, HTTP all at once...
