Duane, I have been there and done that. Designing my wedding invitations was hell. It was tough working with my wife at times, but no harder than some difficult clients. The in-laws on the other hand...they were the ones that made it really difficult. I mean, I love them, but damn if that experience didn't push my hairline back a quarter inch.

Lol. Ok. I see where your coming from. I saw friends go through the same thing. I was lucky in that respect. My in-laws were ok with whatever we wanted. And to your wife's credit she could have been more laid back then my wife was when it came to that stuff.

it's not that bad. we created our wedding invites as sort of a colab project. there were, of course, some days that i did not want to mess around with it (and she did), but it turned out pretty nice overall.
we both worked on the illustration for the front, and continuously worked on the back info (font choice/layout/info etc.) and that became a pain in the ass more than once. i just got to stand my ground :) ...or fold under pressure sometimes :)
i, of course had to create the entire website, but it was kind of fun
( http://www.levelthirteen.com/wed… )we used our co-created illustration for the site, the invites, the custom stamp, the food labels, etc. etc.

Make them reflect your personalities?
Are you guys retro, ride a vespa like bad old movies sort of couple or modern, stylish, glass furniture, mimimalist or euro, cardigans and checkered canvas shoes or punk, torn photos and liquid paper or wholesome, tucked in shirt and long dresses or adventure travelling backpacker homeless or cabaret, red, wall paper and slick hair or sixties tattoo art and chrome or quiet chocolate box pastels, ribbons and shiney silk or nerdy and roll playing or colourful fruity and dis-organised or symetrical and clean and like glass or musical, corderoy and vintage etc?

I did wedding invites that looked like giant cinema ticket stubs. Silver foil and everything - however that was many years ago and I don't have any samples left.

The first thing that popped to mind when I read the first post was the story from Seinfeld; George picked out the cheapest possible invitations from a local store and his wife-to-be Susan died licking the poisonous glue on the envelopes.
- i like that, thats some inspiration for the toasts...jimzyk
