Hate the site. Like the work though.

Cool...hey, cant please everyone!
- Yup. I found the nav confusing. Wanted to click links that aren't links...JerseyRaindog
- Then the scroll drove me nuts. But I have a headache and a reputation for being grumpy.JerseyRaindog
- In fact. i like the print work a lot. But I don't like any of the web work.JerseyRaindog
- Actually, JRD, you're pretty far from grumpy and your advice is usually bang-on the money.detritus
- The rep is more with my wife and child I methinks.JerseyRaindog

Would be good if the print titles were links aswell, it could scroll the image to the right place. The scroll bar is very easy to miss.

recent print buttons don't work for me too. firefox

oh ok then, that scroller sucks, needs to be higher, I'm on an apple cinema display. Seems a bit redundant labelling them at the top and then referencing them at the bottom.
the focus should be on the images not the titles. Maybe label the images instead?

The scroll isn't obvious, I too went straight for the print links!

Nice, clean - distinctly British - work there. Good job.
Your site's usability sucks though - if you're throwing this back at us, you quite clearly don't appreciate the importance of this field as well as you should do and it'll be your problem in the long run. It's not like we're web newbies, and if we're having problems getting it to work - how do you think your unaware potential clients will?
At the very least - make the capture area for the scroll click a bit bigger (my over caffeinneted hands are having problems targetting that 2 pixel deep area) and have the over state change to the usual hand arrow thing that everyone expects. On top of that, if you can have it so you can click on the projects and have the bottom bit scroll, then all the better - you don't need to change your design - you just need to make it work well.
Good luck!

Thanks - all fair points! May tweak it for the full site

The print work is spot on, I don't see your problem the project links as it says use the scroll at the bottom of the page. If you are web Guru's then the web world is struggling! The understated design lets the work do the talking as all sites should do, none of this flash go faster graphics that hides the design!

Wise words, mate... cheers

Oh heres me thinking it was a thread about incredibly long urls.
Silly me.Same comments as above in regards to the site, lovely work though, especially like the 'rendez-vous' book.

Jon_01 if the work does all the speaking then why do we need to read the words?
Surely the idea of a site designed like this is to do what you said and also focus on simplisticity and useability? that being said using a tiny scroller at the bottom is NOT the most obvious way to navigate through work would you say?
- uncle_helv0
Hahaha I think Jon_01 works for Vast!
- JerseyRaindog0
Jon_01 - is this your work? I see you're in Leeds too?
I'm no web designer but I do use the web everyday and this site confused me. imagine your mum is using it. How long before she got confused and had to ask your advice?
The print work is lovely though.

I think the print work is great, been a fellow northerner it's always nice to see work both as experimental and interesting coming from outside of London, but nobody here is trying to be purposely harmful, I guess when you post a link up here in the PVN then it will be put under scrutiny, and as detritus and others have stated...
"It's not like we're web newbies, and if we're having problems getting it to work - how do you think your unaware potential clients will"
Good luck though!

you can pretty much just tick all the boxes here, but outside of that, not overly inspiring, but hey, at least it's well done...
- after another look, I don't even think you can tick all the boxes...neue75_bold
- right oh!rich_vast
- tank020
Its well done,
but you see where he gets the inspiration,
as a lot of us do.
Wouldn't call it expermimental, but a follower of the ' new minimalism
trend'.

the site isnt very consistent considering u have clickable web links but not print. plus the scrollbar is barely noticeable. i thought it was just a line.
plus...... on http://www.blueprintregeneration…
the rollover area on your first link {the arrow} isnt in the right place.
tut tut- nice prints tho, has to be said
:)WeLoveNoise - Its it on mine!rich_vast
