You surely aren't concerned about global warming then detritus.
You have no grounds to disagree.

The problems of global warming are inextractable from those of over-consumption, so regardless of whether tomorrow is a degree warmer or cooler, we still face the same concerns of supply.
'til we learn how to supply all our demands in a closed-cycle, we should take Global Warming as gospel and amend our habits.
However you look at it, we're too greedy, too many and too successful.

So you'd all rather change a light bulb now than feed someone who's starving now?
Yeah you're right.
I'm so unreasonable.

If you think we'll win the global warming fight detritus - you are deluded.
It's started, and it will finish.
Your time would be better spent finding a way to adjust to a changed world.

adaptation and mitigation are the two big debates in climate change.
it's just most people can't comprehend what that means.

What do you mean by 'win'?
You seem to be torn between the polarity of 'fix it in a few years' or 'do nothing, and shut up about it whilst you're at it'.
So, it's me that's deluded?

detritus - "For a start - I'd love to hear what you yourself do?"
last year dumped $15k in just materials and 1 year of time in our San Francisco house (did all the work myself + made a parts runner slave of the wife), to reduce our energy bill from $600/mo to $200/mo in winter.
this year, working on messaging for our sea food joint down here in Mexico, (menus, place mats, table displays, video, and the forever taking cartoon animations) to educate customers and their kids. + now using farm raised shrimp over ocean caught (most damaging in the fishing industry). we've been researching solar for the last few months and hoping to implement (at least for part of our energy usage) by the end of 2008. In the process of switching most of our produce to organic (not sure if that last one helps global warming though, the shrimp one either) :D
- You should def. look into water-heating solar - that stuff's just incredible - relatively cheap, too.detritus
- If you're now flying regularly between Mx and SF, you could've not bothered with the energy-saving renovations.. :\detritus
- i havent been back to SF since we moved here last octobermoldero
- SF sucks, surf is too cold, + we live by 3 world class surf spots here.moldero

forgot to mention, I planted 7 palm trees on the roof/deck of or biz

our end result:
• we pay A LOT less for our energy
• we sleep with a clear conscience
• have that extra time since we don't spend it coming up with lame excuses on why we don't do our part
• chicks dig us more because we save puppies

Don't we already have a Global Warming thread?
