Use your own name for your online presence or come up with an alias name? I'm speaking for self promotional purposes.
I know for a fact my name would get buried in a thousand other google results...

then you should come up with a meaningful, memorable name for your online endeavors.

I can do memorable. Not too sure about the meaningful part.

If you use your own name and everything goes wrong you can't start again as easily...

I'm gonna have to change my name.. Halloween is like father's day at my house, I turn out the lights and hope no kids knock on the door..
... and now I have apparently birthed a Hedge? damn...

I'm pretty sure that ukit and flashbender are proper names. Right?

Flashbender is a modification of my last name. So chosen because I used to do a ot of work in flash.
It was usually met with "ahhhh, clever" when handing people bidness cards of talking to prospective clients/employers

Seriously, kalkal, I chose Dog Opus as a "loose identity." I have my job, where my name doesn't go, and on my site (Dog Opus) I have my name and contact info. I'm about to print some business cards with "Dog Opus" and (obviously) my name. That's my story.

Hire a naming company, like this one:

I'm indecisive, so I went with my actual name.
