nobody made more fun of fireworks than me.
i talked shit nonstop about how lame it was, just like all you on here.
then i learned what it could do.it is hands down my favorite program.
i had used photoshop for 10 years and knew it inside and out.
now, i haven't touched it in a year since using fireworks.i can only say, use it and you will see for yourself.
- did you make that gif of me in FW? You cunt!!!Jnr_Madison
- you know it ya little bitch.LIoyd
- but seriously: i do love you.LIoyd

I've used FW for years (and took shit for it from people here) but I think more and more people are starting to like it. It definitely does have a few bugs, like modern mentioned, but you do need to give it a proper go before calling it shit. I mainly just use PS for photo editing these days but I think it is daft forcing you to use FW if you are happy doing everything in PS (mind you, if you work in a team, that might be a different story).

i honestly threw fireworks away last week... it came with cs3, and every now and then, a png will open in it. it really needs to die.

There are two designers on my team - 3 if you include me. One of us uses fireworks instead of PS, and it fucking hacks me off sometimes, but there't no WAY I would ever ask him to switch to using PS just to make my life easier when we are sharing files and working on projects

can it do smart filters, gradient maps, adjustment layers, linked smart objects etc like photoshop? or are you just using it to design sites looking like wordpress templates?
- no, maybe, maybe, yes. I only do UI design and never use the photo based stuff in pshop so im actually looking forward to learning FWninjasavant

I worked at small web house waaaay back, and they forced me to use fireworks, and I hated it, I felt creatively crippled.
I think its just a tool, (I hate it, but that's what it is) and in the end it all comes down on how comfortable you are with it in order to produce work.
Eventually that company was forced to close and we all got laid off, it was very disappointing at the time, it was my 3rd job ever, and I never got laid of.. little I know, that was the reason I was able to get a job on a waaaaaay better agency, and they allowed to me use whatever I wanted, and I chose photoshop again :)

I've always worked with Fireworks and Illustrator. The ability to keep vectors editable is priceless and, personally, I think png is as great file format. But that's not the point.
Point is, it's rather stupid that your boss dictates what software you should use. Any studio should be able to work with it all.
- You can keep vectors editable in psd too though Corvo.Horp

FW is for web developers... PS is for art directors and designers... FW sucks...

Can't you just do your stuff in psd, then export to fireworks and show him what you did?
