Looks like you have the talent and drive to be a really good photographer. Do something different, develop your own website to showcase the pics and you're on to a winner. Nice name too. Good luck!

Claudia, dont imitate a style go for your own...it is not by having the style of such and such that it will work....YOUR OWN STYLE..... ; )

Claudia it's difficult.
I was a CD at a large ad agency until recently and we used to get 100's of photography portfolios a week to look at.
We'd send the agents a brief and they'd come trawling in will a dozen portfolios, we'd pick a couple and get them in for a chat.
It takes a fuck load of talent and luck to get get into the world of a full time professional photographer.
My advice, build a shit hot portfolio (finding a niche for yourself) and get yourself represented by an agent.
at the moment (without meaning to be cruel) your portfolio when placed next to 12 others wouldn't stand up.
As someone mentioned your photos are good, but I've traveled the world with a camera and mine are too different. It's not that tough to make a Japanese grave look interesting. The stuff of yours that has the seeds of something good are the inanimate photos like these:
I could find a thousand photos like the Jap or Morroccan ones one Flickr. Maybe like you said your job is dictating your style. My wife is a food and travel writer for the BBC, Guardian and Timeout and a few others and travel photography has to be the hardest field to break from what I hear.
Anyway keep on keeping on
