Hi all!
I'll be in Portland, OR in a couple of weeks for a week. Any suggestions of anything cool (design related or not) that I can do in that city? I may go to Seattle as well, so those suggestions are also welcome. thanks!

Get some drinks at the Doug Fir. Buy some books at Powells. Take the Portland underground tour. Downtown open studio every month I think for some good art thats affordable.

Go to El Pigeon for dinner - get there early or book well in advance. I heard Beast is good as well.
I second the Douglas Fir for a drink.
Stop by Canoe and shop their awesome collection of design objects.
Rent a bike and cruise around or go for a hike!

if you're in portland you have to go to Powell's - it's a staple, sorry if you hate books :) and then 23rd Ave is fun, it's a bunch of trendy cafes, restaurants and shops
Seattle is endless (small part of my heart is there) snoqualmie falls are beautiful, they're to the northeast of the city maybe 1/2 hour, try the new park to the north of the city by the space needle, and you must see the farmers market of course (go to Piroshky-Piroshky)
- I love books so I'm definitely going to check it out. Thanks for the Seattle tips, is the farmer's market open everyday?mgabella
- farmers market is everyday from 6am till 6pmish (restaurants are open later and weekends are later) - you can check the website out, it has all the vendors and what they sellmegE
