not like they're actually really comparable but after all this Fairey noise I have a new healthy appeciation for what Bankey does.
- Its important to appeciate!andymcandy
- well at first I thought Banksy was the tits shit but then was put off all the media and art shows and stuff. he just seemed like another sellout.KwesiJ
- ...like another sellout. But this Fairey shinanigans is pretty bad and he was actually considered 'street artist'KwesiJ
- Makes me rethink what Banksy has been doing all along and the actual scene he's a part of.KwesiJ

Overrated.
http://www.robotswillkill.com/gr…- Remember Shepard Fairey once went by OBEY. Banksy is well on his way to marketed street art.jteore

First post. Hello all.
Not much of a post, more of a link... and excuse if you've seen it.

Good for him says I...

yeah i laugh at all the people who are too street to even be called cool, who shred him to pieces! He was doing original stuff in the beginning.. it's getting tired now, only because he has thousands of copycats!!!
I think his work is awesome, and still the most plentiful on London. If you wanna slate him, fukken do better instead of sitting at your pc picking at the few tiny faults he might have.
..and i haven't even started ranting yet!!

sure, he sold out. you mean you wouldn't if in his shoes.
he's decent enough artist with a clever mind and an penchant for great strap-lines. and he got off his arse and did created something.
i'm not his biggest fan or anything, but equally i don't think he ever stood up and said, "hey, look at me, i'm the best". he just did his thing.- pls excuse typos...paulPCcollins
- NO!! THEY ARE INECSCUSABLE!!!!thelukeandrews

given the chance, I'd switch places with him. Well, unless he has leprosy or syphilis.
how has he "sold out" other than his work has become popular and he's managed to make some money off that? Or in your mind does popular appeal = selling out?
- desmo0
i think he is brilliant. nuff said.

Bansky?
Who?
The guy who creates as 30 years ago?
Who criticizes the world like everyone does it?Woooooo!!! I am a rebel, I draw on the walls, like 15 million years ago, with l' old of the caves! What a innovation!
The "rebellion" is in fact an afflicting mondialized conformism...

"hate comes with success."
by LlanteraNah, hate or dislike for Banksy comes from him selling out and becoming 'the man' who he set out in the start to make a mockery out of.
It's down to greed on his behalf and that's why we should boycott even talking about the c*nt
lol
- it's not just one guy. it may have started out as such but not any more. have you heard aphex twin? they rock! ;Dlvl_13

I don't know if it's because I'm just a bitter, joyless individual, but Banksy, nor art in general does much for me anymore. Every time I get taken along to a gallery I start wondering what the establishments bar's like.

Oh, and for all you drop puts, that quote above is a reference to one of Churchill's most famous speches, it's not about Banksy's ego.
