I know Apple are in the US courts over the 3G limitations but now it's had an ad pulled because it was misleading.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/techn…
is this some kind of PC nerd viral warfare against apple?
- moth0
Yes, and good on 'em.
- Jnr_Madison0
Yeah, without flash/Java then it's not 'all' parts of the internet, that is misleading. I haven't noticed a problem with 3g coverage on mine. I'm usually using wifi tho so haven't exactly tested it that much.
- Jnr_Madison0
When I was in getting mine, a guy was getting his and asked what was the fair use policy for unlimited web access - the 02 guys response...'I imagine it's about 1meg a month'... LOL

the uk ad is very misleading, the 3g network is very slow here. web pages load almost instantly on the ad but not in real life :-(

I wouldnt mind knowing if Flash is going to be enabled at some point? anyone know?
I think the phone rocks, and is substantially ahead of anything else I've seen, and the fact that I know don't have a blackberry, phone and ipod fills me with the joys of spring.
But yes I which I'd known about Flash, still would of got the phone, but wouldn't have that sinking feeling of disapointment. QBN works fine though :)
- current situation is that the processor is too slow for flash, which is why there is flash lite... which won't work in safariacescence

Misleading ad? I just bought the samsung omnia and I want my money back!!

"Because the iPhone doesn't support Flash or Java, you couldn't really see the internet in its full glory," said Olivia Campbell, a spokesperson for the ASA.
haha

Bit shit really, isn't it?
My old Nokia has flash and java, plus my choice of contract, a reasonable monthly tariff, and I didn't have to "activate" it through an MP3 download store that I have to download to my computer along with QT and Safari and that I don't actually want and don't understand what it has to do with a mobile phone.
- +1Georges
- your nokia has mobile versions of flash and java, a subset of capabilitiesacescence
- Yes. It does more than the iPhone then doesn't it. And has done for years.moth
- missed the pointacescence
- not at all.moth
- yeah but lets be honest your old Nokia was shit and so was web browsing on itmodern
- I still use it, and it's still fine.moth
- bicycle?ian
- haha..moth
- jimzyk0
Yeah I've messed around with it and it seems great, but they really are riding us with the contracts & shit. Give it a year and they'll realise they are money grabbing cunts & will have to give us all iphones for free with a free bag of apples,

See, My mobile phone makes and receives phone calls absolutely perfectly, and the battery lasts for over a week. If I wanted to take a picture, I'm sure it would do that perfectly well, but I haven't even tried becuase I have a camera for that.
I hate all this convergence bollocks.
Oh bughher my teefs juft fell outch
- Sounds great doesn't it. Don't ask me what it is though, I have no fucking idea. Carphone Warehouse sent it to me. Black and shiney.Spookyhome

It's amazing really. Apple used to be the underdog, and probably only survived because of the loyalty and support of it's users.
The iPhone is nice - I concur - but their terms of business with you is nothing short of corporate buggery, and not only do you blindly take it, you ask for more.
- Jnr_Madison0
I had a nokia before and to be honest never really used the camera or internet on it because it was all a bit....well shit to use.. having a large touch screen makes all the difference. I already use itunes, qt and safari is an optional download. The app store is worth the iphone alone.
- but hey, I agree it's not for everyone, especially if all you want to do is make calls with it.Jnr_Madison
- Georges0
maddox did a perfect piece on the Iphove vs nokia e70
http://www.thebestpageintheunive…- well, 3rd party apps solve most of the things he mentioned,Jnr_Madison
- you have to buy them, right??Georges
- Some of them, yeah, some are free.Jnr_Madison
- modern0
They didn't include flash or java because they're fucking shit
can you imagine browsing a website on a portable and having fucking flash banner adverts?
The "full internet" is like a horrible nightmare next to the iPhone, even things like BBC iplayer and Youtube look better because you get a high quality MP4 instead of pissing FLV
- what are you smoking?
have you ever used a computer?Georges - the iPlayer is made with flash i believe? and so is the youtube onemaximillion_
- ...not on an iPhone - it streams high quality MP4 files using some sort of Quicktime app. Looks f-ing great too.nigo
- what are you smoking?
- moth0
I love it.
Defence of Apple's flaws is paramount to the Apple fan.So, modern.
Why didn't they included a choice of service provider and a reasonable monthly tariff?Because choice is "fucking shit"?
- moth0
Why didn't they include 3G - a long established technology - in the 1st Gen phones?
Because it's fucking shit?
- moth0
Activate via iTunes?
Because turning it on and having it work is fucking shit?
- moth0
awww come back modern. You're no sport!
- Nathan_Adams0
I wouldn't mind seeing flash support, for the sole purpose of sifr, but otherwise - how the hell would you navigate a lot of the flash sites out there without a mouse?
