My iPhone is sync'd with a computer at home but that computer needs to be formatted (horrible virus). Is there a way that I can manually add songs from my work computer without having to sync it?
Manually adding songs through iTunes doesn't work :(
Cheers!

Try making a playlist on your computer with all your songs on it and drag that to the iPhone.
Let me know how it goes, this is kind of a wild guess.

Nah didn't work :(
I think I need a 3rd party program to effectively do it :(

Also forgot to mention that I'm on a Mac!

Maybe I'm not getting you, but just select 'manage music manually' on work computer. Your ipod is only really synced with it's 'home' library until you choose otherwise.

playlist wont make any diff. the iphone's no different to any ipod, if you're synced to another machine then you're only hope is 3rd party. be careful though as one wrong move with 3rd party will either brick your iphone or cease anything but the phone working (an almost brick).

Ah, right, I get you. My mistake you need 3rd party software for that.

anyone recommend a third party program? I know I used to use ephpod effectively for my older iPod but it doesn't seem to be working for my iphone :(

Disk for iPhone will let you mount your iPhone on your desktop to copy files over SSH. I've had some success with it, but sometimes it can produce a Kernel Panic for some reason, so it may or may not work for you.

how exaclty does that work MSL? I get the logo in my taskbar but no idea what to do from there o_O

You need to make sure your iphone is attached to usb. Hit either media or root to browse the iphone's contents.
I only managed to get 1 or 2 pics off the camera roll on mine before it kerneled like a bitch and crashed the mac.
I'd use this as a last resort. There is another app - that i'll have a quick look for that is a full GUI program to get files off the iphone.
Is you iPhone Jailbroken?

" the computer needs to be formatted (horrible virus)"
wtf...did you download?! hollywood flix or porn?

One thing in regard to multiple itunes libraries, the iPhone is not like an iPod, it can only take music from one iTunes library unlike the iPod's where you could put music on it from any itunes if you had on 'manually manage music'. Even if you use the 'Manually manage music' on the iPhone you can only take music from one library. Guess its apples way to minimise music piracy.
- wow thats sounds like a good reason not to get one, Apple are so fuckin frustratingblackspade

You need third party software to add music to an iphone?
- throws more wood on the fire...ian
- I'm nearly officially speechless.moth
- hahaha. Nope, you can put music on with itunes. you need 3rd party app to take music off the iphone, just like an ipod.ian
- you can get music off the ipod/iphone without 3rd party software if you view hidden files.Jnr_Madison
- but finding the right files (as they are not named properly) is the reason for using 3rd party stuff to make it easier.Jnr_Madison
- this all sounds pretty straight forward. Maybe I'll buy one, moth

what is this horrible virus? on a mac?
- I had the same thought.Jnr_Madison
- gaurantee you dont have a virus, your computer is just a messblackspade
- there are only 2 known viruses for the mac (I think). I doubt you have either of them.Gucci
