I went to a Bangledesh resturaunt around SOHO that was actually two doors at the top of the stairs with one side red and the other side green. You would see a guys face in each window and when you walk up the stairs they both open the door wanting you in their place.
We went in the red side and it was a fucking fire hazard. There were Christmas lights tangled in a thick mess from the ceiling and on the walls, a Mickey Mouse clock on the wall (still in the box), red Christmas wrapping paper for wallpaper, and a beach ball stuck in the tangled lights.
Don't remember the name but it was good food. The lady and I will be in NY this next week and I will try to find it again.

It's a bit west from the LES, but you can't go wrong with Under Acme.

Depends what kind of energy you want, but I would recommend somewhere more intimate and chill where you can make a reservation. These aren't exactly in the LES but close enough and places I would recommend on the romantic tip:
Tasting Room
Grotto
Monday Room
Peasant
Smith (on Mcdoogle)
