Here's the deal, I've got some serious wiring going on in my house, got a 25 meter ethernet cable that starts out in my studio outhouse, snakes up the wall, along the ceiling of my garage, up through the ceiling through the floor of my bedroom, around some carpet and into my xbox / computer / laptop.
Now, the little spring bit has broken off, it still works a treat but keeps popping out every now and again which is vvvvvvery irritating. What I need is some sort of adapter, extension cable or hub.
The obvious thing would be to go down the wireless route, but I've had it for years and works fine, just getting a little irritated with it now. Anybody got a solution?
I appreciate this isn't the most exciting/erotic thread, so here's a cat smiling, they seem to get a lot of attention here.

Is that pretty straight forward? Any guides out there on how to do it?

I think it is straight forward.
I also work in an outhouse and seriously considering putting a wire in. But since the advent of 802 N the connection has just got soo much better. just thought I would say

The little plastic lock is broken on my extension cable here, and it's not bothered me one jot in 18 months.
I'd suggest spooling it so there's some slack at the busted end, then wedging the plug in with a toothpick, affixed with Blue Tack.
Alternately buy a new cable for the tenner it'll cost you.

Or go for the cheap ass, but effective, duct tape solution. A classic.

Hold on a tickidy boo (that's right, I said tickidy boo), I just want to fix the end, it keeps popping out the back of my xbox and laptop. I would replace it but it's a 25 meter cable that goes under carpet, through floorboards and ceilings and is pinned along the top of the garage roof!
cock-snoggin nipple nibbler? How dare you sir. I am nothing of the sort. Good day.
