I don't think you'll have any problems making the switch. I use both macs and pcs all the time, and they both do what I need them to do as a graphic designer. As long as they have decent specs you should be good.
The only issues I have are when I jump on a PC, I start using Mac shortcuts and if working on a design started on one then the fonts can get all messed up.
I personally prefer mac a little just because they seem to be more stable. But, I'm sure you could find plenty of people that have the opposite opinion.

time to adapt, I've been using macs all my life. But if I have to work on PC, I will, its work and it needs to get done, if I don't do it, someone else will.
The truth is, photoshop looks the same on both.

my advice:
Grow Up... :)
Being a technical swinger will only make you that more savvy and desired - this is a very positive thing you're being forced into.

Your work flow WILL increase on a PC... the differences in the efficiencies of the Finder vs. Windows Explorer are pretty dramatic... Windows does win... hands down. :)
The only diff between the two - Mac's OS is purty and not open to viral attack - sooooooo... you will need to learn to be a bit more careful about opening emails, visiting sites etc etc.

- There's things you can do with Explorer that Finder will not do for you -turk_182
- ... for instance - you have flash, ps or illy open - you click 'open'... your 'open' dialogue works like windows explorer...turk_182
- ... the finder locks you out of copy/paste abilities etc.turk_182
- copy/ expose/ select app/ paste.
all can be done without clicking the mouseMeeklo - that's right.. not a single click on the mouse.Meeklo
- as you very well can on a pc... i'm talking about the efficiency of your management / dialogue windows - you can do a lot more...turk_182
- more in windows with individual files not related to the app your in - you can drag and drop files to other explorer windows too...turk_182
- i could go on and on... where's Boz? I like his arguments on this too :)turk_182
- keep going please.Meeklo

learn how to adapt and stop being so dramatic. switching between pc and mac does not make you a bad designer, if you are worrying that your quality will drop, well in that case you might not be that good in the first place.

I want a Mac. Yes, I know. But I do. It's still long-term planning though. And a Mini Mac as back-end server.

Just say thanks that time has passed and now you have windows XP.
Windows ME it's just a bad memory.
And greasing your hands with bit of pc will make you better designer.
