all day long when i'm at work i'm just thinking about all the projects i want to do once i get home. but then i get home, after my hour long commute, eat, and then all i want to do is have a couple drinks and youtube shit or watch tv. nothing gets done. do you share my sentiments?

I know exactly how you feel. I guess the answer is to get a job that lets you work on projects you want to do:)

Just quit and work on personal projects all the time. Hell yes!

I feel ya, my commute to school is an hour and a half. Usually though I have enough time to recover and actually get to doing shit once I'm home.

i hearrrd that.
i've felt like this for a while now- mainly in concerns to time and not having enough of it to get shit done. its always going to be something though- if not this problem, then another...so i suppose its not soo bad. at least we get to vent on this here page.

I have come to the sad conclusion that that’s the difference between us and them. I will always be an “us”.

abso-frickin-lutely. I used to do much the same, get home from work, get changed, do a workout and eat, then look at my laptop and decide I'd rather surf the 'Net, hang out with mates, or just relax...
The downside to this is the fact that the work is still due the next day whether you feel like doing shit or not, so I end up staying up 'til 3am finishing whatever job I've got going.
My advice is to maybe look at your diet... I changed mine a while back and find myself with way more energy late into the day.

Mega +1 totally agree. It's torture. I get heaps of ideas while at work too.
The problem sometimes is that by the time you get home your energy's been zapped... so the results aren't always great.

My main fear is not getting to spend enough of my life doing what I want to do. I feel like I am moving towards my goals but with a 9 to 5 you spend so much time on useless shit. Makes you wonder how many people really end up achieving their dreams.

I lived in ny for ~5 years. while there i gained 50lbs.
a year ago i moved to utah.
my commute is 9 minutes. I got home tonight and went for a run in the mountains about 4 minutes from my doorstep. i've lost 27lbs since moving here.
i do miss ny sometimes, but not that much, i'm happy here.- kudosJG_LB

I also get worried and worked up about reaching/achieving goals in life.
Then I go for a hike and realize that I'm getting worked up over nothing and to keep at it. Outdoors are a great treatment for these feelings.

I usually book time off for personal projects. Just book an afternoon off for a weekend, pull a sick day, something like that.
That, and if you get home, have tea / coffee instead of ... opium. Or horse tranqs.

I pretty much had to sit down a schedule everything to make sure that I could fit everything in without getting too exhausted, fat in front of the computer or poor. Sounds like a boring way of living but it actually has helped a lot.
9-5>freelance>swim>sleep>shoot events>see daughter and wife>sell house>build house>go to pub etc.
Has actually meant that I have had the energy/cash/time to be spontanious when the occasion arises.

I thought I was the only one! I went to dinner with the wife, who is going through some family stuff at the moment, dinner, a few beers and WHAM! Nothing! Well at least not as much as I should be doing.
Hand in there, you are not alone.
