hai guise, web design question from a print guy here. I'm gonna get started on my church's website soon. They have zero dollars to pay a programmer. I'm doing the design part for a healthy discount. Would indexhibit be suitable? Or what about some of the skeletons one can play around with from Joomla? I know very little about Joomla, my boss mentioned it to me recently. Only browser over there for like 2 minutes.
Bear in mind there must be video, church staff needs to be able to regularly update content, and there is a calendar that gets updated each month. What do you guys think? Cheers,

My current site uses Indexhibit. Pretty standard though http://www.shapeaspect.com
I don't see that many sites using the news script which I think is rather handy.

It reminds me of Indxr - http://indxr.net/

i use it for my site and i reckon it's a great free cms/template. so often you hear people on here telling people "let the work speak for itself, keep the site simple" etc etc. so then why do so many people get pissed at indexhibit just because it's popular? we should be considering the work inside the site instead of the layout - if those critics are true to their word.
i agree if you are a web designer specialising in interface, etc, your site should illustrate the skills you have as an interface designer. but if you're just looking to show your work i reckon it's ideal.
you fukin rangers on here that complain about everything should shut up. so many times your own sites/work is so shit it's comical. grow up and move on. do something constructive, instead of destructive for once.

Get them to raise a budget for a developer. I'm sure you'd see the problem with getting a non-designer to design for zero dollars. Many of the same problems occur when a non-developer tries to do the same.

Ahaha. This is old indeed. I wasn't even self-employed when I last posted in this thread.
What's funny/sad is that my wife and I have moved on to another church closer to home, and yet our former church has still done nought about their wreck of a website. A new website seems superfluous to them amidst budget cuts, lowering attendance, and church staff layoffs.
- Although one could argue that a promotional shot in the arm is just what they need.gramme

Here is a pretty comprehensive tutorial on customizing Indexhibit.
