Any geeks out there wanna lend a thought?
I'm upgrading this old p.o.s. dell for my boss, with a new IDE HD, 80gb, plugged it in just like the old one expecting this to be a 1 hour job. Windows disk in Drive, starts windows set up only to say
"windows did not detect an installed harddrive..."I have it plugged in right, I'm not a moron. I've tried 2 drives and 2 ribbon cables.
any ideas?

ensure the jumpers are set correctly & cable placement is proper.
if it's the first drive, the jumper should be the "master". if the jumper is set to "cs" or "cable select" ensure it's on the proper plug on the cable
- also ensure other drive's jumpers on the chain is set to slave...sublocked
