Whats an average price of a framed photo for sale in a gallery?
- pylon0
Size? Dark-room printed or giclée? Museum frame or ikea frame?
Photographer? Subject matter?
Before or after the space takes their points?
Etc, etc.

jesus,
so many factors apply..

hmm.... yeah i guess theres alot of variables.
A few people told me that a good rule of thumb is to charge triple what it costs to get framed.
Have you heard this before?
Also, what percentage is average for the space to take?
- imnotadesigner0
Ok, lets say its costing me $65 for a framed & matted print. The subject of the photos are abstract.
I was thinking $225... or is that too little?
- pylon0
Not if you're just starting out.
What's your total cost going in? Is that $65 including the print itself?- So does $225 make me look like Im just starting out? Should I go higher??imnotadesigner
- Outdoor Art had stuff selling for between 150 and 450 for framed 8x10s. At galleries it'll be more, but that sounds fine for a lounge.pylon
- for a lounge, ya know?pylon
- That puts me at ease.imnotadesigner
- imnotadesigner0
yep. $65 including print. I had to use ikea frames due to timeline though I would've like to museum frame them.
- ikea frames...
ok,... i won't judge you.janne76 - hahaimnotadesigner
- ikea frames...
- imnotadesigner0
wel its actually $65 including print and I have 12 pieces. So my total cost going in is $780, not too steep.

Is the lounge taking a cut or points on top?
- imnotadesigner0
well that was mentioned but we never settled on anything. I guess he's leaving it upto me to come up with something. What do you think is reasonable? 25%?
- Sounds about right for a restaurant — unless they're throwing you a vernissage and have a good mailing list.pylon
- imnotadesigner0
Nope. No vernissage as of yet but I am changing the pieces every full moon. Ill talk to them about that though.
- haha. Every full-moon. Do you use a sextant to find your way there? :)
pylon - hang on..... Im looking that word upimnotadesigner
- ahhh a sextant.... hahaimnotadesigner

hey pylon, do you work at pylon?
- No, actually.
They're across from Taxi right?pylon - not across from taxi. but close to them.imnotadesigner
- Then, ya I know who those guys are. Our studio used to be down near there.pylon
- No, actually.
- imnotadesigner0
that print you bought, how was it framed?
- Not Ikea but not a museum-quality either. Frame looks prefab but the matte looks custom.pylon
- sikma0
What's the size of the final print?
And what printing process? Ink jet? Giclee? RA-4?
