Say I want Eartha Kitt's "Santa baby" (1953) playing on a clients flash ecard... Do I purchase a license from someone or what? Same goes if I cut a 10sec. loop out of it? I can't google good enough.

I don't think you have to do anything

Check with ASCAP or BMI most likely...

The client will pay through the nose for this most likely. Just be aware. We just went through a hassle like this as well. Went for the royalty free shit. Works fine.

right, ASCAP & BMI led me to "Tamir Music Publishers" who doesn't seem to exist on the web... I'm going royalty free.
Thanks
